I've been reading Stephen Donaldson for decades - since 1978 if I remember correctly. The Thomas Covenant chronicles are my favorites, but I also love the Mordant's Need books - and The Gap saga is another favorite series.

One of my passions is collecting limited editions of my favorite authors: Stephen King, Dan Simmons, George R.R. Martin and Robert McCammon.

I just wish i could add Stephen Donaldson to this list, but the only Donaldson limiteds I'm aware of are the The Best Of books (SubPress) and the Donald M. Grant Daughter of Regals.

Needless to say, I can't wait for the SubPress or Cemetery Dance announcement of the Covenant limited series - all ten books!

Have you seen the Easton Press edition of Lord Foul's Bane? It's a "collector's edition", but I am not sure if it meets the standard of "limited edition".

I'm afraid I don't know anything about special editions of Donaldson works, alas, but hopefully at least one of us Watchers may be able to help in that matter! (It may be as you have suspected, frik, that no special editions exist that are easily accessible---though at the last Elohimfest, I noted that someone presented our host, danlo, with an edition of LFB possessing gold-edged pages.)

There's lots of topics concerning Donaldson's works here, so don't be shy and dive in and post wherever you want to, depending on what you've read (to avoid spoilers, I would not read on any forum or sub-forum threads dedicated to a Donaldson work that you have yet to finish).

Most of the SRD forums are self-explanatory by their titles, but I would like to point out that discussions of Donaldson's short stories and of his "The Man Who" mysteries can be found in the forum General SRD Discussion and Other Works.

As for the basically non-Donaldson parts of the Watch, here's some other areas you may be interested in:

Best of luck tracking down the different editions! There's a nice hardback version of Gildenfire that I've seen, don't know if you have it.

Sorry to be late welcoming you but I've been playing truant for a bit. Been reading Donaldson since 1978 eh? That beats me by about five years. He'd written all the 1st Chronicles by the time I heard about him, but I did have to wait for the 2nd & 3rd books of the 2nd Chronicles to be published.

Hi there! First read of Covenant was in 1982, have read all Donaldson except the "The man who..." series and The Last Dark. I'm currently rereading the entire Covenant series (1/3 way through Wounded Land) so as to get an end to end perspective. It's been MANY years since I last reread the first trilogy, and doing so reminds me of why these are some of my all time favorite books ever.

I've known *about* Kevin's Watch for years, but this is my first time venturing in. Glad to be here.
