Hello
Hi cortez, cortez here. It’s nice to find this place. A little background on me. I’m in my 40’s, just barely. First read the Chronicles in my early teen years. Read them again during my college years. I’ve only read the First trilogy. And to be quite honest, I’m not even really a Fantasy fan any longer. I read primarily Crime fiction and “literary” fiction now. But, I saw that a Last Chronicles is on the shelves and being completed and I got the itch again. So, I’m going to make my way thru the books again…and hopefully the Second for a first time. I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t read much fantasy since re-reading LOTR a few times in the years leading up to and during the release of the movies.
I began Lord Foul’s Bane last night and have made it about 50 pages in…Covenant’s meeting with Lena. So far, so good. I’m pleasantly surprised at how well Donaldson still does it for me. The Covenant in “real world” passage were always a bit of a slog to the younger me, but I had a greater appreciation for it this time thru…
Anyway, it’s nice to be here…hopefully I’ll be around for six, 9, 10+ (?) books…

Welcome, cortez!
Make yourself at home, have a look around, and all that jazz.

Be Welcome to the Watch, Cortez.
Be Well Come and True.
Since you haven't read the second chrons yet, may I advise you avoid the First and Second Chrons forum as well as the Last Chrons forum for now. Spoilers abound in both! Once you finish the second chrons then feel free to join in the discussions there.
Since you've read the First Chrons before, you may enjoy reading the dissections of those books as you go along in the Dissecting the Land forum. But you may want to hold off on reading them as you go through the Second Chrons, until you finish that series. Spoilers are not intended in the dissections, but you never know what you may stumble upon.
Also check out the rest of the Watch. We have a thriving role playing forum, several forums where other authors are discussed, and forums devoted to SRD's other works besides the chrons. Jump in and join in!

Oh, ooops, yea, I had it that way at first, and then second guessed myself 'cause it didn't sound right, and moved Young forwardMenolly wrote:Isn't it usually listed as CSNY?sindatur wrote:Crosby, Stills, Young and NashIolanthe wrote:Who is Neil Young?
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young?
In any case, I tend to prefer them without Young...

Welcome to the Watch Cortez.
Get reading, that way you can stop worrying about spoilers. Until then, stay outta all the TC-related forums is my suggestion.
Given your intro, I'm going to guess you haven't read the Gap series or Mordants Need either.
You have so much to look forward to.
In the meanwhile, there's Gen Lit for other genre's and Gen Sci-Fi/Fantasy for non-Donaldson stuff, (among so many others) so there's plenty to talk about and think about while you're reading.
Go join in.
