Hi all, this is my first post... I've been reading many of the great topics here for some time now. First read the Chrons in 1980 (I think... it was the summer TWL came out).
This thread made me think of what's probably my favorite quote from the entire series, and to me feels like it must still be a part of SRD's thinking, as must be the essence of Lena's song. The Lords (and the people) represented and believed in so much of what was wonderful about the Land.
"I trust that Despite is not the sum of life."

you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

welcome to the jungle
it gets worse here everyday
ya learn to live like an animal
in the jungle where we play
if you got a hunger for what you see
you'll take it eventually
you can have anything you want
but you better not take it from me.
be true brother.

It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.
I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Thanks all!! I've read all of SRD series, a few times... pretty much the only author I can say that about.
Menolly, Yes is my favorite band
Lucimay, word association games? What did you have in mind?
Weird that my post created a new thread... ?? I thought I'd posted it under the thread about some of the songs and poems and how they might relate to the 3rd Chrons.

Did we forget what happened surely we can tell
We must have waited all our lives for this..."

I have returned from a week's sojourn in the Spoiled Plains (also know as Los Angeles

I like that trivia thread too

No, I haven't read any Erikson that I remember. I'm actually not much of a Fantasy reader (other than SRD)... used to read a lot of sci-fi as a kid but don't read it any more either, and never really liked most fantasy (yes, I'm sure that's heresy around here

Today's Yes quote:

Pass within and soothe this endless night..."
