I believe the Worm is within the Arch Of Time. It is subject to time, i.e. it sleeps. Also in the prior quote, it mentioned that the Worm wakes up every eon then goes back to sleep. This time, before the eon ended that it had eaten so many stars that it got tired. Who is to say that it can't fall al...

I was disappointed after reading these books a long time ago. My biggest grief was that everyone (King Joyce and Emeris) seemed to know exactly how thier adversary would react in any and all situations. Backup plans for backup plans. Now I've just finished reading them again and I still slightly fee...

These are the pale deaths that men miscall their lives. (or something like that).

Just a piece of a poem from the books, and I rarely ever read poems/songs in books.

Was It Their Fault Elena Messed Up?

I am rereading this excellent book and just got to the part where Linden and Stave have returned from the Horserite. Linden says that the Ranyhn feel that it is thier fault that High Lord Elena was messed up like she was. Specifically, that they took her to the Horserite at such a young age and that...

That is a good question in itself, Morrin. Would Covenant even want the ring back?

Will "He" Take Charge? [Ending Spoilers]

OK, the main character of Runes has been Linden, but at the end, Covenant arrives. Now assuming that it really is him, will he take charge of the job of finding Foul and dealing with him? Or is Linden going to be calling the shots and he is helping? I think that Linden is going to give him the ring ...

I think only Thomas Covenant is the white gold. The songs and propheses were about him, pretty nearly describing him. Linden and Joan are most likely only weilders.

I hate to say it, but Pitchwife always bugged me. Oh, not his personality and such, but because he seemed to like Linden more than TC. TC was the damn hero of the story, Linden only did what she had to do at the end (yeah, I know, I'm oversimplifying her).

OK, I have another one.

SPOILER FOR END OF WHITE GOLD WIELDER

Foul is doing his meglomania speech about what he can do now that he has the white gold, then he hears Covenant say "Talk is cheap" That kills me! So funny! And brave! And necessary!

The "Nom" episode in the prison was great. Sure, that was neat, I agree, but the impact of Covenant saying it outside of Revelstone was more unexpected to me. There they are, Covenant is barely holding on, Revelstone might be about to be taken down by White Magic, they are 1000s of league...

For me, it has to be in the Second Chronicles when Covenant calls Nom outside of Revelstone. It still gets me excited every time.

In Lord Foul's Bane when they exit Morrinmoss Covenant is covered in the green spotches from the moss. Also, Mhoram has a bit on his shoulders. I always took this as marks of their power. Covenant, of course, has the white ring, but Mhoram, as we see, becomes a very potent person too. It's sort of l...

You know, I never thought that the Sunbane was weeker if it lasted several days, but it makes sense. When it started it might have been just a slight change in weather patterns. Neat.

Sunbane frequency

I was thinking that it might be preferable to have a different version of the Sunbane every day than the sequence that the Land was having of 3 days of each sun. Sure, if you know how many days of a particular Sunbane you're going to have will make surviving those days easier, but wouldn't a differe...

Whose Idea Was The Oath Of Peace?

Did the Giants come up with it when they delivered the First Ward to the new Lords?

Did the people of the Land come up with it themselves?

Another question we need to ask ourselve is, are we doing a Command as a person from the Land or as a visitor like Covenant. Remember the Oath Of Peace and the reluctance for the Land people to damage Earth and Wood. Sinking parts of the Land under the ocean would kill so much vegitation. Also, maki...

"Without effecting Thomas Covenant's ring, create another white gold ring in my hand" then give it to Mhoram.
