2. If everyone will pay less, then where will the money come from to run the government. I'll admit I don't know much in general, but assuming the government isn't cutting expenses enough there's one other way I know of raising revenue - bonds. The USA currently gets money through loans, and bonds ...

Sega Fantasy - Strange Rehash of Final Fantasy
Maybe those of you who'd be interested are already well aware, but I think it worthwhile to post this. Basically, this Japanese animator (animators?) put together redone versions of the Final Fantasy endings, with the characters replaced with consoles. FF4 has PS1/2 as the main villain. FF5 has X-Bo...

My kids are definitely bright, engaging and equal to the task of mitigating the 6th and 7th grades. Hopefully, without much pain. The question as I see it, to which homeschooling/private school is sometimes the best solution, is whether they and other schoolkids will have teachers who are intellige...

4. Our younger son is very bright, and he was getting very frustrated in school, as the pace was much too slow for him, so he was zoning out a lot and not paying attention, and missing assignments because he would be wool gathering rather than listening to the teacher. He is a Calvin, with his pet ...

Re: My Waynhim Roots
Here is one thing I was never clear on. Mount Thunder housed the Vile spawning dens, and I believe both the ur-viles and the waynhim are creations of the Viles... so does that mean that all uv-viles and waynhim were literally born in Mount Thunder? Or is this only the original place where they were...

If the three books hadn't been there, perhaps we could be using our time doing something really good? Well, that may be true, but I feel like this thread is more about discussing the roll of the religions now that they do exist, and as far as I can tell, are likely to exist in some form for the eve...

First off, I should just say that I'm glad that SRD does karate; even if he's not up to par with the younger students it's at least gonna help keep him healthy, I assume. All-in-all early (or earlier than expected) deaths are tragic all on their own, but I feel like they must be particularly painful...

Re: Pope Opposes Harry Potter
www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/jul/05071301.html So what would he think of Covenant? Not to sure on Pope Benedict, but here's a link to a christian-values based review of TCTC. www.christianfantasy.net/stephendonaldson.html Personally I think it's pretty poorly written but it might interest you. The ecl...

Holstey, I essentially agree. I was arguing against the idea that Islam is inherently/solely/predominantly violent. But my feeling is that islaam, judaism, and christianity have ideas that can encourage violence, and make aspects of them dangerously close to 'inherently violent'. I'm not 100% on th...

Chill out man. I don't like it when people drag up the past. The past is dead when dealt with. And I'm especially not keen on dragging other threads in for the purposes of dispute. Every thread should be an island as far as possible. I can tell you both to take it easy in this thread, disagre...

Just so you know, Vidal should do some research on the interception stuff, he could learn something from looking in depth at maddox (by which I mean checking the sites maddox links to). It's pretty clear from the stuff below that NORAD wasn't intentionally on lower security or somehow screwed with, ...

This was from a while ago, but I recently began some further possible discovery, so I thought I should say so. I asked SRD on the Grad Interview if this passage was, at the time, written with the intention of foreshadowing some sort of plot point later not used in the 1st chronicles. He's said he wa...

well, of course there are those, Cail, but it's a docu-drama, right? And if you can count how many fictional political thriller movies there has been over the past decade, you will have the exact number of movies I didn't go to see. More Syriana? More Mission Impossible? what, maybe get Tom Clancy?...

Shining force is ok...Phantasy Star has one really bad game in the main series IMO (can't remember which one) but also some really great ones. Bahamut Lagoon is kinda easy but definitely fun. FFV, I already have on PS1 in the anthology pack, so no reason to emulate it. I've emulated much of the Fire...
