Your Brain's Pattern images.blogthings.com/whatpatternisyourbrainquiz/3.jpg Your mind is a firestorm - full of intensity and drama. Your thoughts may seem scattered to you most of the time... But they often seem strong and passionate to those around you. You are a natural influencer. The thoughts y...

But human beings who are not sexually attracted to members of the opposite sex are not comparable to a “neuter gender.” Homosexuals are fully capable of marrying and having children; even today, it happens all the time. Homosexuals who existed in societies which expected their members to breed proba...

Interesting article overall, but this part seems a bit ridiculous: The next hypothesis is one of kin altruism, where homosexuals would help their own family members, thereby increasing the family's fitness and allowing the gene (which would be present in the family group) to be passed on to the next...

Re: How many Horcruxes?
But some of what Dumbledore told Harry was true, in that Voldemort only intended to have a 7-part soul. I don't think he ever realized what he'd really done the night he killed Harry's parents. It doesn't bother me, simply because it just sort of fits in with the other ways Dumbledore misled Harry. ...

I don't see the loss of thousands of children as more abstract than the loss of certain characteristics. If it's a loss, you'd never miss it either way. The difference is that, as things now stand, abortion is used to avoid unwanted pregnancies altogether, not to change the genetic nature of the fe...

Lol... I'm just saying that finding him (whether as a spector in Andelain or maybe within a caesure?) is different that doing what she did. Find me != wake the worm, heh. I doubt what she did was worse than using a caesure to find him, though. Interfering with any of his past deeds in the Land woul...

i also, on occasion, attended mass with my catholic cousins. i liked mass. i liked the ritual and the incense and all the trappings of that brand of spirituality. for many years i thought i wanted to be catholic but really never did anything about it. I like those aspects of Catholicism, too. Despi...

Stormrider, thanks for your reasoned response to my admittedly controversial remarks. I'm not trying to be an ass, I promise! (It's genetic . . . just kidding.) Don’t worry, I’m not overly sensitive. I don't think that most people fear genetic engineering as great equalizer, causing mass conf...

I won't vote, since I'm not an atheist anymore (switched to agnosticism at 12, and then deism, which I've stuck with, at 13), but my parents sent me to church and Sunday school every week. I had to be an acolyte from the time I was 12 until I graduated high school. They knew I'd rejected the church ...

From the point of view of a species, diversity is critical to survival. When individuals are identical, they can all be wiped out by the same thing. There's no chance to discover something new that can be strengthened in the world's test tube and eventually be merged into the genomes. Exactly. And ...

I knew something wasn't right when TC(Roger) and Jeremiah were very condesending toward Linden. One thing I'm still curious about -- sometimes Covenant and Jeremiah got angry at Linden for seemingly no good reason. If I remember correctly, Jeremiah was furious with Linden when she asked him to show...

Re: Longwrath's anger
Did I miss something or did Linden ever confront Longwrath on why he wants to "slay" her? I know Longwrath is out of his mind, but I don't remember much discussion with anybody on Longwrath's obsession with "why" he wants her dead. I can think of many reasons why some readers wa...

I would agree for severe diseases like those mentioned, but I think it would require some strict guidelines as to what could be done and what could not. Homosexuality wouldnt be one of those cases, it isnt cut and dried. Spinal Bifida is. Perhaps the guideline is sever physical/mental handicap ? It...
