I believe the reason the Dead don't speak, except indirectly and cryptically, is because of the fear of unearned knowledge rebounding against anyone using it. And perhaps, as Covenant once said, because if they told mortals the truth they'd be too scared to go on. This time, I think someone is comp...

The Viles are destined to be the new Forestals.

Im also more bothered by the general confusion as to where this heroes journey really is going. We´re only 2 books from the conclusion, and by now the protagonists should have a better understanding of what needs to be done. That would benefit us readers enormously. You do remember that Covenant di...

I have the distinct impression that the Arch and the Earth are two seperate things. The Worm could eat all of the Elohim and devour the earth but th Arch would still be standing. There just wouldn't be an Earth, or Land, in it. That's my impression now too. Despite the fact that SRD has said things...

And we might ask, to what uses might Jeremiah's powers (if they are Jeremiah's and not the croyel's) be used? My understanding is that Jeremiah has the ability to open a door to anywhere or anywhen, given that he has the right materials and motivation. So here are two really good uses for his power...

Or, rather, they were the stars. They were transformed, and can't be stars again. For we know that the Elohim will not survive the destruction of the Arch. Wouldn't it make more sense for the INSEQUENT to be the stars? I mean besides all the references to the stars SRD throws into FR everytime the ...

Alternatively, according to one result "viska" is "(long) live" in Catalan

Frankly, I think Linden just popped TC out of the Arch of Time and his "Time Warden" status when she resurrected him.

Nothing is protecting the Arch of Time now....

Oops!

Much of Kevin's lore probably predates him. "Kevin's lore" in the earlier series is just the name for the packaged units Kevin put together for the New Lords to learn from not separate lore that Kevin developed. Kevin's lore, the lore of the new lords, and rede of the clave are not "...

Re: The impatient author

I've had a feeling throughout the final chronicles that the author is impatient with the pacing of previous books. It seems to me: False jeapardy was often inserted where it was not in previous books, to make sure virtually every chapter had an 'event.' A really good example of that was the Viles. ...

You know, I've been thinking about this tonight, and of course your opinion is a great one that goes along with a lot of what Donaldson has written in the past and is probably correct. And yet.... It strikes me that the one person in The Last Chronicles who is trying to solve the fundamental problem...

The Time Warden

Ok, so apparently dead Thomas Covenant is the Timewarden and works to preserve the Arch in some way.

What if loses that when he is resurrected?

No. But we know that the Despiser posed as a Lord and was accepted into Kevin's counsels. He may have pulled that trick on the Insequent as well.

Re: The Runes and the Staff

So he's looking for an answer to entropy, how to stop the end of all things. At one time, Donaldson said this is what he's trying to explore with his Chronicles--a human answer to this inevitability. Upon reading this, my first reaction was that the second half of the the Gap sequence might well gi...

Ah, I miss the heady joy of having at a new Donaldson book! There's two points to remember about the planning of the Final Chronicles. One was that SRD had them in mind when he wrote the Second Chronicles. But the OTHER one, which gets less press, is that SRD had no clue how to write them. Otherwis...

I wonder about the nature of the Insequent. Every one that we have seen has incredible, world class power. And we never really hear too much about any sort of homeland or anything about them in groups. Is it possible that in fact, they are not a race unto themselves (like haruchai or ramen), but a ...

I find it interesting that Infelice's response to TC when he asks: what have you done? Isn't: She has roused the Worm and Destroyed the Earth, but rather: Now every Elohim will be devoured. So, which is it? Or, does she mean both--but during the stress, lets slip the REAL motivation of the Elohim a...
