I just saw what might be the best Guy Flick of all time - The Warriors. Remember that one? Gangs in NYC. That's as fun as it gets! :) Is there an official term for the male counterpart of the Chick Flick? I don't think I've ever heard anything. Something else that rhymes with "flick", and ...

Re: If it doesn't rain.....it pours

I have been somewhat absent of late :( My daughter broke her arm at kindercare on Monday and we wuz back at the hospital on Tuesday until 3am wednesday as she suddenly took ill - we figured it was related but it appears to have been a different bug altogether. I'm so sorry to hear about all this! :...

Re: What if Covenant was wrong?

So the question arises: just what is that Power that upholds Foul? Is it because his Despite Incarnate? Perhaps. But ... My musings on the subject are what might be called the Laws of Creation. One of which demands the existence of Choice. I don't see the point of creating beings that do not have t...

Considering what Skyweir said at the beginning of this thread, I wouldn't have thought that Serpreme's original question belonged here. (My answer is: You go get leprosy, then have your wife leave you and take your son, and you'll change your question to "Why isn't TC a whole lot more PO...

For those who didn't get pointed to this thread from the other thread, here's what inspired me to post what I'm about to: My opinion: yes, the more Covenant is PO, the stronger his hatred, the stronger is Foul. Foul is his mirror, his dark side. In WGW, after his purification in the fire, Covenant i...

It's ok, Sev, you don't have to protect me. Sev didn't want everybody mad at me, so he didn't tell the real reason he had to stop. It seems that Lord Han-shan's very first move was of such brilliance, courage, and passion that he became High Lord!!! I myself was stunned. Anyway, it didn't see...

I can't remember if you were one of those who had read Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea books. If not, that's my highest fantasy recommendation. Otherwise, I've previously recommended Eric Lustbader's Ninja books. Kinda fantasy elements, but put in our world. And Hesse is as good a writer a...

Dido and Aeneas, by Henry Purcell, a Brit from the 1600's. Libretto by Josiah Priest. My favorite opera. Possibly because it's only about an hour long :) But pretty amazing stuff, though. The overture is a "French Overture", for reasons of tempo and rhythm. It was my introduction to...

i dont think so.... i think CC was still in garotting deep... i think it was the consiousness of the forest itself. but the Raver specifically says that it is a voice of a forestal that Covenant hears; and I am sure a Raver would know, being a long-time enemy of the Forest and all Forestals Plus, t...

OK, here's an easy one. What opera is this from? ROFL Aeneas: By all that's good- Dido: By all that's good, no more! All that's good you have forswore. To your promised empire fly, And let forsaken Dido die. Aeneas: In spite of Jove's command, I'll stay. Offend the Gods, and Love ob...

The entire scene of Sunder and Hollian altering the Sunbane is too long to type out when I'm as tired as I am, but these couple of sentences are so awesome: The Stonedowners chanted desperately, driving their exertion higher; but their voices made no sound. The incandescent beam absorbed thei...

Reread the conversation between Covenant and the Creator in Lepers End. But here are the most relevant passages. "You did not choose this task. You did not undertake it of your own free will. It was thrust upon you. Blame belongs to the chooser, and this choice was made by one who electe...

I learned today that Nora Jones is the daughter of Ravi Shankar! Go figure :)
I think her huge hit song is very nice. Not sure it is the extraordinary gift from God that 8 Grammy awards would have you believe, but I am happy whenever it comes on the radio.

I've never been able to figure out exactly what role the Creator played in the summoning. The Lords hoped the Creator played a part in it, which gave them hope. And the Creator certainly did choose TC and LA. But what that means is beyond me. Foul also chose them. Since they're brothers, or possibly...
