Isn't it deceptively simple? First, let us agree on what items are constitutional - that is, explicitly or implicitly prescribed by the US Constitution. Then, anything that contradicts or otherwise seems to go against anything on that list we can term unconstitutional. Easy, right? Except, er..... d...

Calling someone "conservative" or "liberal" without attempting to qualify in what area one exhibits that general tendency is begging for multiple misunderstandings. Consider this: I am conservative when it comes to limitations on Federal powers versus States' rights, as I feel th...

Hope? Please. Obama has had the good fortune of running for POTUS following the least popular President in the last century. And he's only polling at a 7% lead..... I hate to call the majority of the electorate a bunch of suckers, but..... But is that because Obama is really a bad choice who is win...

This is the main reason people are voting for Obama: to get something for free, and to get revenge on rich people. Not trying to take away from the short-sightedness of the unwashed masses, but your comment is really harshing on me.... so much for the audacity of hope. I know, I know... hope...

A friend at work recently told me about his purchase of a 100-oz bar of silver, to which I responded, "Oh, neat. How heavy is it?"

I prefer the Foghorn Leghorn saying "Sharp as a sack of wet mice."

Malik, I hear a lot of high-minded supposition that Mr McConnell's seat is in jeopardy...but I also listen to more liberal sources than not. Trying to get a less spun voice. Do you think his seat is threatened? Isn't Mitch a fixture in KY? Speaking of Mitch, I voted to keep Mitch Daniels as (GOP) Go...

I will attempt not to over-analyzing this question (as is my wont :) ) - since (except for recently) I have a long history of lucid dreams where I realize I am in a dream state and start to play with things.... If I ended up in the Land and was certain it was a dream, I'd quickly launch into some se...

But isn't there a way to make it portable without effectively poisoning the insurance plans that people already have through their employers? The stated goal is to drive the price of healthcare down... so why does it seem like we first have to make it more expensive (for the employees), just to kick...

Well, this assumes that one can be biased against suck-ness. :)

It is a natural bias, I admit. One that I share.

The only people who are perfectly neutral are dead, and they can't vote... except on the GOP ticket in certain states.

Good post HLT and a good pick up too Malik, tho' the balanced coverage was of McCain not Palin or Palin and McCain. you both also presuppose that both/all candidates are equal. There is another scenario which is the more along the lines of Occam's Razor, maybe the media balance is skewed because so...

Oy Vey !! I'm not sure you guys quite get it yet :) Palin is the absolutely best pick that McCain could possibly have made. If McCain picked someone bland and safe, he might have filled a school classroom during his campaign stops. The entire ticket would have received less media coverage than Bide...

I would have given serious consideration to a McCain-Lieberman independent ticket... even though they would never have won, and I would likely have thrown away my vote.

I'm used to that, though.... I vote Dem in Indiana a lot. Heck, I even voted for Perot.

She has the kind of charisma that you instantly really like, or you instantly really dislike.

In my experience, women often precipitate this kind of polarizing effect. :)

Media bias is most likely the result of targeted marketing, that only occurred once cable channels decided they could run 24hrs a day... gotta fill those time slots to sell ads to make revenue... get some opinionated people to grouse about stuff on screen.... and thus the pundits were born, or hatch...

Well, Kins, that may be true, but it doesn't say anything about the treatment that they get once on the show, does it? One recent example of the wrong kind of exposure is the Bachmann debacle on Hardball. She didn't do her homework, so walked into the spider's parlor, then did her normal thing of sp...
