I would love to see the Chain of Dogs filmed - that would be spectacular!

I really enjoyed AFFC - it was the only book in the series that I felt had any re-read value. Which is my problem - given the ridiculously long wait and my lack of desire to re-read Martin's work means that I may not buy ADWD.

I love GotM as well - one of my favourites of the entire series so far (along with Deadhouse Gates and Reper's Gale, although I've only just started Toll the Hounds). Ganoes Paran and Whiskeyjack and Kalam Mekhar and Quick Ben and Fiddler and Tattersail and Dujek Onearm and Hairlock and Crokus and S...

I kind of understand where you're coming from with this, but as I remember Kelenbrabanal "bared his throat" to Lord Foul and was killed as part of the bargain, and Mahrtiir suspects that teh Lurker was an incorporeal Foul's method of carrying out the actual killing. And I don't see either ...

Remnants? Doesn't the text suggest that the Lurker was the means by which Lord Foul killed Khelenbrabanal?

What surprises me here is that his publishers aren't more annoyed - Martin is good, but he isn't so good that such a long wait won't lose him a number of readers.

The Barrens becomes two seperate zones - North Barrens and South Barrens - split by a chasm of lava opened by Deathwing's escape from Deepholme.

No license there. :D

In this new book Linden keep disparaging the Harrow and the Ardent's abilities because they are merely powers that they use, not things that are part of them, like even Liand's. I did pick up on how often that is mentioned - that like their garments the power of the Insequent is obtained rather tha...

Perhaps Longwrath's Elohim-inflicted geas makes him noticeable.

And a Giant in the Sarangrave would be very appropriate, given then first six books (and TIW and TWL in particular).

It seemed for most of their time together that Covenant and Linden took turns being in La-La land, unable to interact with others and leaving the conscious one to deal with the problem at hand. Though, I don’t think the two could work together if they tried. When they were both conscious They were ...

As far as I remember, you either haven't read the Gap Cycle, or you read it but didn't enjoy it, right Fist?

I think The Gap Cycle is the best thing SRD has ever written, and I find that when I read The Last Chronicles with it in mind they are much more enjoyable.

I will say that when I read chapter 1 online at SRD's website I loved it so much that I thought "I'm not waiting til I get back to NZ on 20 November" and went over the road to the mall and bought the book right then and there. And that chapter 2 is much better the second time around. More ...

So I couldn't upgrade to WotLK over the long weekend because housekeeping couldn't get my safe open so I could retrieve my credit card (ARGH!).

Got it now, so may try again tonight.

I'll add my thoughts on chapters 1 and 2 after work, and hopefully finish chapters 3 and 4.

So I started my re-read last night (one chapter at a time this time), and I must say, chapter 1 is amazing! It's everything I ever loved about the first six Covenant books.

Hopefully things get better for the rest of the book second time around.

Point taken. I was just so tired from reading page after page of action that I guess I no longer cared.

It also leaves a hell of a lot to resolve in TLD. It feels like we should only be half way, not three-quarters of the way, through the story.

We shall have to see what a second read accomplishes.

The fact that She must not be named will come into play I think. After all, when Covenant asks He Who Should Not Exist As He Adds Nothing To The Story Whatsoever (otherwise known as HWSNEAHANTTSW, or Esmer) to tell Her who She really is, HWSNEAHANTTSW refuses. Which means that the name must have som...
