I really enjoyed AFFC - it was the only book in the series that I felt had any re-read value. Which is my problem - given the ridiculously long wait and my lack of desire to re-read Martin's work means that I may not buy ADWD.

As far as I remember, you either haven't read the Gap Cycle, or you read it but didn't enjoy it, right Fist?

I think The Gap Cycle is the best thing SRD has ever written, and I find that when I read The Last Chronicles with it in mind they are much more enjoyable.

I will say that when I read chapter 1 online at SRD's website I loved it so much that I thought "I'm not waiting til I get back to NZ on 20 November" and went over the road to the mall and bought the book right then and there. And that chapter 2 is much better the second time around. More ...

So I started my re-read last night (one chapter at a time this time), and I must say, chapter 1 is amazing! It's everything I ever loved about the first six Covenant books.

Hopefully things get better for the rest of the book second time around.
