"Runes"

I don't know much about books, but I know what I like, and I liked "Runes of the Earth" very much. I guess what attracted me to TCTC in the first place was the strength of Donaldson's characters, and the amazing characterization (for lack of a better term) of the Land. Has anybody here rea...

I would have been annoyed at any ending, knowing it might be years before the next volume. The first chrons were released simultaneously, and the second chrons at yearly intervals, so a wait of up to a decade for the rest of the final chrons seems interminable. Hell, I might be a grandfather by then...

Troy suffers from an affliction that many of the characters in the Chronicles do...hubris, or excessive pride. Troy has so much faith in his plan, he doesn't think he needs backups or contingencies. The Chronicles are rife with examples of characters and peoples who are brought down because they can...

We also have to keep in mind that not eveyone will be able to read Runes right away when it is officially published, due to time and/or financial retraints. Not to mention that it might be published at different times in different Lands. This is a very good point. I, not knowing all the rules, post...

This is in reply to the original question: There is an explanation later in the book, so, just take a chill pill and keep reading. PM me if you want to know more. If you get to the end and still don't understand, re-post your inquiry...with a spoiler warning! I learned the hard way as well...a spoil...

Sorry;

The thread title had "spoilers" in it...What is the protocol re potential spoilers? I thought if the header had "spoilers" in it, I would be safe.

MAJOR SPOILER WARNING!

I have read Runes, and I believe that he did leave loose ends and do some foreshadowing in the first 2 Chronicles.

I'll be pushing 55. You cannot imagine the cliffhanger at the end of Runes. I thought all the books were already written and would be coming out within the next couple of years. If I have to wait 10 years, I don't know what I'll do!

The rape scene should not be that much of a problem. Lena says that you cannot take what is freely given, essentially stating that the sex was consensual. The "rape" was mostly in Covenant's own mind. Yes, the Chronicles were character driven, but one of the most important characters is th...

I have Pocket PC and would dearly love to have an electronic version of the Chronicles. I have owned all of them at least once, most of them at least 3 times. I read them every few years.
