Ask yourself this - if he wasn't 'the' Roman Polanski, would this really be such an issue? What if he was a used-car salesman, or a carpenter, or unemployed? Would we still be entertaining the idea of pardoning him? The law must be applied to all equally, or it fails. I know that is the ideal rather...

At one turn a month, I'd also like to apply for God-dom.

(If things speed up, I might find myself streached, however.)

The Land became real the moment Donaldson wrote from someone other than Covenant's point of view. (I think it was Mhoram's.)

Now that it's been mentioned, which outcomes were inevitable in the Chronicles? I don't remember a single one (except that everyone will eventually die). The first one that springs to mind is the consequences of Elena drinking the Earthblood - even Covenant could see that the only outcome of that e...

The Saints choked, yet again. I know, I know, that's a horrible thing to say - and probably not even true - but they had it; they had it won and they lost it, bugger it. I know I picked Cats, but I was barracking for the Saints. Great game - perhaps not technically, what with the dodgy conditions, b...

It's an interesting question, especially considering the importance placed upon choice in the text. In the final chapter of The Power That Preserves , ( Leper's End ), even the Land's Creator admits to being un-sure of the outcome of his choice to send Covenant to the Land - indicating the existence...

Agreed....though I must admit that a not very nice part of me was hoping he wouldn't get it, just because. But there really was no-one close to him this year, was there?

Your 'rubbish' map is way better then anything I could do, Dorian - very nice indeed! The same goes for your world map.

I think the Haruchai do have differences of both personality and opinion. They seem to settle such differences through physical conflict; measuring the strength and fidelity of an individual's person or argument through that person's combat prowess. Once a resolution is reached, however, they act in...

I think Cleburne has the right of it. (Though I've been too wrapped up in the AFL final series to keep up with the Rugby, lately.)

Well, it got a little one sided in the end. Cats just too strong, too polished. They play like that, and Saints are in serious trouble. Still, they've lost one Grand Final kicking poorly, and even tonight they missed goals they should've kicked.

3 quarter time and the Pies are looking totally outclassed. Any other team and I'd probably be writing them off, but we're talking Collingwood here, so it's still a game. But you'd have to favour the Cats from here...

Did you see Rocket Eade at quarter time? He was fuming - to jump out to a lead like the Bulldogs did and to let StKilda claw it back, well, he was not happy Jan. Hard, hard game. (See Nick R. have a chunder after the final siren?) Could have gone either way. Now for the blockbuster. I'm sticking wit...

It's a bit bizarre, isn't it? How can we dominate the limited overs game so throughly when the Ashes series was so evenly matched? Glad I'm not a selector.
