Why was the Krill hot in the 2nd crons?
The krill was hot in the 1st chronicles also.
Why did the Krill's gem fade and go out after CC was killed with it?
Hmmmm....perhaps the power consumed in breaking the Law of Life was more than the krill could channel, and it "burned out."

Re-watched Star Trek V on TV this weekend - while this movie definitely ranks as one of the worst Star Trek movies, it does have one redeeming quality - the interaction b/w Kirk, Spock and McCoy. Their dialogue is classic Trek. Of course Kirk's premonition that he would die alone didn't exactly come...

The depth of regret in that one statement, the realization coming to Bannor that even though Kevin Landwaster may have been worthy of the Vow, the people that he had served after that for who knows how many thousands of years may not have been. This comes through in his distrust of Foamfollower: So...

They could have done so much better with that story line - imagine if Leonard Nimoy could've been persuaded to come back as Spock, with the Romulans and Vulcans reuniting in peace. That would've been an awesome story. Instead we get this really wierd and totally ludicrous clone of Picard. What hogwa...

I agree fairly closely with your rankings, clearfrontier. I rank "Undiscovered Country" up a little higher, and "Nemesis" lower. Anyone heard how well "Nemesis" did at the box office? Did it make money or lose money? Will there be another movie made? It seems to me that...

I always thought that Trell must have been thinking "Ok - so you saved the Land 4000 years ago. You'll probably save the Land again now. Doesn't mean I have to like you."

I liken Trell to Kevin more than anything. He, like Kevin, gave into his despair and tried to destroy that which he loved. Revelstone. He found the power of the RoD. I'm not sure I see a foreshadow in him of the Sunbane. But that doesn't mean it may not be there. Donaldson interweaves everything. T...

OK everyone, help me out here - re-read "The Healer" in TPTP last night, and it's very clear that the Healer has a real fire in her cave. SRD describes her woodpile and even notes that the wood was dry. Even stranger is that there is a real wood fire in Morinmoss. Seems to me to be very st...

I have to say I always share Mhoram's tears especially in the fact, that after the aborted summoning at the beginning of The Power That Preserves, he never gets the chance to see his dear friend again. And there's one little tidbit that really blows my mind, I noted it in my first reading twenty ye...

As I recall, it was the blood of the Haruchai that allowed the Clave to stabilize the Sundane at 3 days. When the Haruchai army came and were mind-controlled (in WGW,) their blood - and the blood of decimated Stonedowns/Woodhelvins - increased the Sunbane to a 2 day cycle.

Got another bluegrass fan here! I play guitar and bass. Used to get together with a bunch of guys and play regularly, but everyone (including me) is too busy these days. The best time I've ever had playing bluegrass: One night a small group of friends and I were playing in this old country store. Th...

I still haven't seen Nemesis. Though I'm not avoiding it, it's not a burning drive, since I haven't been too thrilled with the movies in general.
Don't bother - it's not much better than Insurrection.

I find it kinda funny that Findal pretended to be whatever it was under the barrow. It brings back a memory of Linus sitting in the pumpkin patch and sees a shadow of what he thought was the Great Pumpkin and faints and it turns out to be Snoopy. I don't believe it was Findail who caused this, it w...

The best thing about the use of the command (during the escape from Stonemight Woodhelvin) is the timing. If he hadn't gotten that out of the way early, we would have read the books wondering "when is he going to command Vain?"

Re: McCaffery

At least McCaffery can write--unlike Jordan and others of his ilk. I have no issue with McCaffery; I just point out that she writes CHILDREN'S stories. "When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things."...

DS9 is my fav - I thought it consistently had the best writing. TNG was good too.

Can't stand Enterprise.

Voyager was OK, but I grew tired of seeing them get their tails whipped every week.

TOS? Can't watch it any longer, too corny.

One did die there but they were able to recover his body, so he was replaced. I have always wondered about the ones who died on Lord Mhoram's scouting trip. Replacing Dead Bloodguard

I'm trying to think of Bloodguard who were NOT replaced after their deaths. Obviously, these were Bloodguard whose bodies could not be recovered. I've come up with a few obvious names: 1) Tuvor (died in Kiril Threndor) 2) Morin (died in Earthroot) 3) Cerrin (died trying to save Lord Shetra in the De...
